Zattoo unveils new player | | Internet TV service Zattoo is celebrating its first anniversary with the company presenting in Spain its new software Zattoo Player with new fuctionalities.
Zattoo reaches one million users in Spain, out of 2.7 million users across in the different European countries it is present in. The operator has been now in Spain for a year and offers 27 local channels.
All users will now be able to personalize and organize its programming list the way they wish as well as to access teletext. Zattoo has worked on local versions of this software in Spanish, French and German.
Daniel Ilar, general manager of the company for Spain, Portugal and Latin America, said: "We are sure Zattoo Player's new version will be a success. Before its launch, the beta version of Zattoo 3.2.0 has been tested during two weeks by Zattoo's most technological users who gave us their opinion on it. Our next steps head now for the integration of social networks with Zattoo Player and also for the possibility of iniciating it from a link on a web page."
Zattoo offers broadband television in real time. The service is recognised as a cable service and it has all the necessary rights for Internet broadcasting. So the company only broadcasts the national channels in their territory by geo-blocking their contents. The service is free-to-air and apart from Spain is also present in Switzerland, Germany, France, UK, Belgium, Denmark and Norway. The company's headquarters are based in Michigan, US, and in Zürich, Switzerland.
At the beginning of Zattoo's presence in Spain there were reports that the service had begun broadcasting some channels without the appropriate licenses. But the company said no suing from any channel was ever made. "They were only rumours in the Spanish press because we had all the licenses from the very first beginning," an internal source said.
