BBC's Apprentice winner Lee McQueen convinced Sir Alan Sugar to employ him but the uncompromising tycoon maybe regretting his decision after the 30-year-old called in sick for his first day, reports said Wednesday. McQueen beat 20,000 applicants and 15 fellow contestants to land the 100,000 pounds-a-year job developing digital advertising screens at Amstrad's factory in Brentwood, Essex. However, The Sun revealed that McQueen -- who was caught lying on his CV -- phoned to say he had a virus. Cynics have also highlighted that McQueen's absense coincided with the hottest day of the year. An Amstrad spokesman told the Press Association: "We've known he's not been well for three or four days. "He's frustrated that he can't be at work because he wants to get going but he knows that he needs to be at home." Source:the Press Association
