Ted Turner, speaking in Atlanta Monday, said he and Rupert Murdoch had swapped letters, had lunch together and the two had buried the hatchet, which now meant – says Ted (pictured, left) – that he’s not at war with anyone, except perhaps the current CNN line-up. Turner was speaking at a Rotary Club lunch, and said the rapprochement with (former arch enemy) Murdoch started with a letter congratulating the News Corp boss over his new attitude to conservation, buying carbon offsets and creating stronger environmental practices. That letter prompted a lunch invite from Rupert, and so a war of words that has stretched back some 15 years was healed. But Turner was prompted to make a few comments on the current state of play at CNN. He told his audience that he’d like to see CNN star columnist Lou Dobbs “shut up”, adding that he’d like to see more international news on the channel, and he couldn’t help but notice that the new CNN was “lighter” and more “frivolous”.
