Cyfra+ prepares card swap

The Polish DTH platform Cyfra+ is to change the smart cards of its entire subscriber base of 1.1 million in September.

According to the company, the new Nagravision cards, which will not only cut down on piracy but also pave the way for the introduction of such services as VOD, will be compatible with all makes of Cyfra+ receiver.

Just last month Cyfra’s parent Canal+ Group renewed its commitment to the Nagravision conditional access system that is also being upgraded in the French market.

The switch to the new encoding system will take place in October.
