Nick adds Swedish version

Nickelodeon has added a Swedish version, replacing the pan-Nordic feed on the majority of operators in the region.

Nickelodeon Sweden went live on June 18 and is available on Canal Digital (satellite/cable); Viasat (satellite/IPTV); Com Hem (cable); TeliaSonera, Tele 2, FastTV and Bordlerlight (IPTV); SPA (smatv); Otrum (hotels) and Boxer (DTT). It follows the addition of a Danish version on March 15 this year.

“We wanted to do local feeds to keep as close to the market as possible,” a spokeswoman for Nickelodeon told Broadband TV News. The channel broadcasts from 05.00 to 17.00.

The launch is being supported by a summer bus tour around Sweden and Denmark that is looking for a “face of Nickelodeon”. Interviews are also conducted with local personalities for broadcast on the channel.

Programming for the younger audience, broadcast under the Nick Jr brand is dubbed, while that for the older audience is subtitled.
