Sky Italia opts for Pace PVR twinset

Pace is to supply Sky Italia with two new personal video recorders for HD and SD viewers. The DTH platform is introducing the PVR element to its HD receivers for the first time since the start of HD transmissions in 2006.

The Pace HD PVR comes with dual DVB-S2 tuners H.264 compression and a 250GB hard drive to store up to 60 hours of HD programming. Sky Italia uses OpenTV middleware and NDS conditional access.

Interestingly, the standard definition PVR uses MPEG-4 compression, enabling Sky to make better use of bandwidth.

Both units have Ethernet and USB connectivity. The HD box is also SVP-compliant.
