Virgin iPlayer is family friendly

Virgin Media has said that its cable-delivered version of the BBC iPlayer initiated 10.5 million views during June. The cablenet is the first operator to make the iPlayer available on a TV platform, enabling full screen picture quality of BBC programmes, without impact on the broadband connection. Since June 1, the iPlayer can be accessed through Virgin’s EPG, as well as the Red Button on BBC channels.
The top ten list of the most popular programmes viewed is far more balanced than similar lists released by the BBC. Whereas the online iPlayer has a tendency to skew towards young males, Virgin is far more family friendly, with even the popular children’s show In the Night Garden making an appearance.

Most popular iPlayer programmes on Virgin Media in June

1. EastEnders
2. Doctor Who
3. Holby City
4. Casualty
5. Top Gear
6. Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps
7. The Apprentice
8. Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
9. In the Night Garden
10. The Apprentice: You’re Fired
