After severe delays
Sky has finally launched its mobile TV service with operator 3.
3 UK subscribers are able to subscribe to a range of channels which includes
Sky Sports channels,
Sky News, At The Races and CNN for a £5 monthly charge.
The broadcaster now distributes its content via all four major operators with a mobile TV offering, apart from O2.
For the first time
Sky's mobile TV service with 3 is hosted off-portal, by platform provider Vidiator, although it will be heavily promoted from Planet 3. This decision means subscribers not on an unlimited data bundle will have to pay an additional £2.50 per month to access the streams.
David Gibbs, general manager of mobile for B
SkyB, said, "We're excited to launch some of
Sky's most popular live mobile TV channels on 3 UK. As we've seen since launching
Sky Mobile TV in 2005, month after month
Sky content continues to top the mobile channel rankings."
Sky claims to have reached over 200,000 mobile TV subscribers, along with 7m unique visitors to its on and off-portal mobile internet sites.
