Fans' fury at strictly 'fix'

STRICTLY Come Dancing champion Tom Chambers has waltzed into a storm.

The Holby City star danced to victory in Saturday night’s final.

But after his win the stunned actor blurted: “It’s nuts that I won. It’s absolute craziness.”

And his success with partner Camilla Dallerup, 34, has sparked a furious backlash.

A whopping 13.3million viewers tuned in to Saturday’s final.

But many fans claimed Rachel Stevens was better and should have been the winner after a perfect score for one of her final routines.

They also argued that Tom, 31, should not even have been in the final because the judges changed the rules to stop him being eliminated the previous week.

There were also claims that viewers could not get through to vote for Rachel, 30, or third-placed Lisa Snowdon, 37. One woman claimed she failed 75 times to get her vote registered.

Tom was there after BBC bosses pulled the plug on the elimination vote after a semi-final bungle.

After his win hundreds of fans bombarded the BBC’s official Strictly websites. One viewer named “StrictlyLoving” stormed: “Such a disgrace Tom was not kicked out last week as he should have been. He was nowhere near the same standard as Lisa and Rachel.

“If the BBC had not interfered last week Tom would have been beaten by Lisa in the dance-off.

“This fix to keep Tom in and make him win is a total farce and I will never watch another series again.”

“FallingNickFab” said: “I cannot believe the farcical programme I have just watched.

“Come on BBC, you’re just looking after your own ‘guy’ and adapting rules to allow him to win.”

“Twinklejojo-dancer” wrote: “I could not vote for my winner. I pressed redial for over half an hour.

“The results are a travesty.”

But a BBC spokesman said last night: “The final was a straight viewer vote and the viewers chose Tom.”

And Lisa Snowdon got perfect scores for both of her routines, yet didn't get to the last two.

The balance between true Dance Competition and simple Entertainment depends entirely upon ones individual point of view.

Overall during the climax to the competition, I felt Rachel Stevens was generally the best Dancer, with Lisa close behind (and my personal favourite).
