Forget whose version of Hallejiuah will sound better as you ravish the wrapping off your pressies, crowning the top Christmas game was the real title tussle where the climax was as riveting as a three-way final of Strictly Come Dancing.

EA Sports will be toasting a fine bottle of champers as they pick at their turkey dinners after barging aside cinematic war epic Call of Duty: World at War at the last minute to claim top spot in the UK all format game charts.

The sixth Christmas number one in eight years for EA, FIFA's latest instalment enjoyed an 89% upsurge in sales to pip COD who had held the top spot for six succesive weeks.

Others which made up the ultimate festive selection gaming box, saw Mario Kart Wii in at three, while another EA title, Need for Speed: Undercover hold fourth spot. Dr Kawishima's Brain Training completed the top five titles that have had you braving the queues to see them nestled under your brightly lit tree.

Fierce footballing rival Pro Evolution 2009 which has enjoyed the most recent share of the spoils between the two footy titles, dropped to the lowly depths of 26th despite leading the race back in October when the two games were released.
