Line-up announced for Ross return

Stephen Fry and comedian Lee Evans will be among the guests when Jonathan Ross's chat show returns to BBC One following his three-month suspension.

Rockers Franz Ferdinand will also appear on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross when it returns on 23 January.

The BBC said one more guest would be added to the line-up nearer the time.

Ross was suspended in October over his role in the Radio 2 phone calls row involving comedian Russell Brand and Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

Franz Ferdinand will perform their new single Ulysses live in the studio.

Ross will also resume his Radio 2 show on 24 January.

Film 2009, also fronted by the star, will return to BBC One two days later.

'Major failures'

The BBC came under fire last year after Brand and Ross left a series of obscene messages on Mr Sachs's answering machine during a recording of Brand's radio show.

The presenters revealed Brand had slept with the 78-year-old actor's granddaughter, Georgina Baillie, and joked that he might kill himself as a result.

Brand and two senior Radio 2 executives resigned, while Ross was suspended without pay for 12 weeks.

The BBC Trust, the corporation's governing body, said there had been major failures of editorial judgement.

..who have resigned if memory serves me correctly. The creators/perpetrators appear to have been handed a three month holiday.

Something smells.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
