UKTV joins Sky Player

BSkyB's online TV subscription service Sky Player has added six channels, including two from UKTV.

From tomorrow (6 March), Sky Player will stream classic BBC comedy channel Gold and factual channel Eden to Sky subscribers.

Another third party addition is National Geographic Wild, while Sky Real Lives and Sky Movies Screen 1 and 2 have also been added.

Existing Sky TV customers can access the channels via Sky Player at no extra cost to their monthly subscription. Sky also retails Sky Player to customers who are not satellite TV subscribers.

The BBC previously struck a deal with Sky to make iPlayer shows such as Doctor Who available via Sky Player.

Other channels available on Sky Player, include Disney, MTV, Sky Sports, British Eurosport and Nickelodeon.

Programming on Gold includes British classics Blackadder and Fawlty Towers, while Eden airs the likes of The Blue Planet and Planet Earth.
