Brand reunited with Ross on air

Comedian Russell Brand has launched his first radio show since his resignation from the BBC - with a telephone call to broadcaster Jonathan Ross.

Brand made the call during a two-hour football special, co-hosted with Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, aired on Talksport radio on Sunday evening.

"You're not back on the radio, are you?" listeners will hear Ross say.

Ross and Brand were heavily censured last year for leaving lewd messages on actor Andrew Sachs' answering machine.

Brand quit his Radio 2 show as a result, while Ross was suspended from the BBC for three months.

Earlier this month the BBC was fined £150,000 by media watchdog Ofcom for their "offensive, humiliating and demeaning" conduct.

'Cutting-edge comedy'

In the show, recorded in London on Saturday, listeners heard Gallagher accuse Ross and Brand of failing to learn their lessons.

Ross was heard telling Gallagher: "We'll listen to it very carefully before it goes out.

"Noel, you can sit back and be the grown-up one."

In another part of the programme, Brand was heard leaving a message for Barack Obama in a bid to find out if the US president is a West Ham United fan.

The one-off show could become a regular fixture if it proves successful with Talksport listeners.

When it launched the programme, the station said it would contain "a heavy dose of cutting-edge comedy, controversial commentary and the odd eye-opening anecdote".
