Sharon Osbourne defects to BBC for X Factor rival Strictly Come Dancing

Sharon Osbourne is putting the HEX Factor on former boss Simon Cowell... by signing up for Strictly Come Dancing.

Sharon, 56, has told friends she is “definitely” going on the BBC show as a dancer – a sensational decision which will put her head to head with Cowell on The X Factor.

Her defection to the BBC for a reputed fee of around £100,000 is a slap in the face to ITV rival Cowell after they parted company in a reported stand-off over money.

And it is a clue that this summer's ratings battle between Strictly and Cowell’s Saturday night talent show will be hotter than ever.

A BBC source said: “Sharon is already a huge name in TV and music, so she is perfect for the show.

“The fact she has been on X Factor means that she is sure to have plenty to say when the two shows launch. Sharon verbally agreed the deal several days ago and will sign contracts in the coming weeks. She is so excited she is already telling her friends. Cowell won’t thank her.”

Sharon, the wife of rocker Ozzy, was a judge on the first series of The X Factor in 2004 and stayed for four series before falling out with rival judge Dannii Minogue.

She quit amid reports she had unsuccessfully demanded a £1million wage rise and was replaced by Cheryl Cole.

In an interview with TV’s Piers Morgan, she admitted Dannii was a big factor in her leaving. Sharon said: “I didn’t enjoy working with her at all and didn’t fancy spending six months sitting next to her.”

She has never done a BBC series and Strictly will be Sharon’s big telly comeback in the UK.

Oh Whoopie Doo.

Well at least that means I won't have to watch her again, as I can't stand these pointless celebrity challenge shows.

As I can't stand either show it doesn't really matter to me but I have to ask - What on earth does she know about dancing?

About the same as she knew about talent.

Have to admit to quite liking the X-Factor, at least that is a talent contest for the public.
