Canal Digitaal expands HD line-up

The Dutch DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet will add Eurosport HD and History HD to its line-up of HD channels on July 1.

At the same time, CDS will also start to carry the Dutch all-talk channel Het Gesprek and the non-stop German music channel Schlager TV. Both services are in SD.

There is as yet no news about possible carriage of the HD simulcast of the three Dutch public channels Nederland 1, 2 and 3 on satellite. In order for this to happen, CDS has to buy additional transponder capacity on the Astra 23.5 degrees East position. The launch of these channels was announced on Tuesday, June 16 (see Broadband TV News passim).

At the moment, there are five channels in the HD bouquet from CDS, costing €9.95 a month. They are BravaHDTV, Nat Geo HD, Discovery HD, VRT Eén HD and MTVN HD.
