GRAHAM Norton's telly turkey Totally Saturday has been AXED after totally failing to attract viewers. BBC bosses are pulling the plug after the cringeworthy show was hammered in the ratings by an ITV REPEAT of Stephen Mulhern's Animals Do The Funniest Things. Just 2.5million tuned in to watch Graham's teatime effort on BBC1 on Saturday - down from 4.3million when the show launched last month - while 3.7million enjoyed the animal comedy on the rival channel. The figures have humiliated Graham, 46. He is understood to be unhappy with the show, in which members of the audience have their belongings "borrowed" and put centre stage. And his shame will continue for another two weeks before the series ends on July 18 - a week short of its intended run. Celebrities including Lionel Richie, Sir Roger Moore and girl band The Saturdays have been drafted in to help the show - but even they couldn't keep viewers interested. An insider said last night: "Totally Saturday has been totally disastrous. The BBC hoped it would be their answer to Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway on ITV. "But viewers just don't seem to like it and even Graham is unhappy with it. He deserves much better than this turkey. It's got two more shows and then it's being consigned to the dustbin." The show was criticised by two of Graham's BBC colleagues Jonathan Ross and Chris Moyles last week. Radio 1 DJ Moyles branded it "appalling television", while Wossy added: "Poor Graham, I feel for him watching that show." Producers will now try to come up with a another show for star signing Graham, who is set to sign another deal when his existing £6million Beeb contract runs out at the end of the year. They are struggling to find new formats for him outside his chatshow and musical shows like How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? His past flops include 2007's When Will I Be Famous? and Strictly Dance Fever, axed in 2006. Source:TheSun | ||

| I can't picture either of those two really creating watchable prime time TV so it could be a case of trousering excessive amounts of money is at fault. | ||
