Coronation Street cobbles filmed for Google Street View

Bosses at the ITV1 show allowed cameras to take 360 degree panoramic views of the Weatherfield cobbles so fans can look at the set on the internet.

But viewers will not be able to see the antics of the actors if they log onto the Google site.

Filming was stopped to allow a Google Street view car onto the set to take pictures of the Rovers Return, Rita's Kabin and Roy's Rolls among others.

Stars including Tupele Dorgu, who plays Kelly Crabtree, looked on as the camera took pictures of the set and they are expected to go live in the next few days.

One Coronation Street insider said: "Many people have their streets featured on Google Street view so why not the Corrie cobbles.

"It's one of the most well known streets in the country even though it is fictional so people should be able to know what it looks like when they go on the internet.

"It will be much detailed that how you see the cobbles on the TV. Fans of the show will be able to look at every nook and cranny at how Weatherfield really looks. It's a real coup."

Google Street View hit the UK in March this year but coverage of all cities is yet to be completed.

Is has sparked complaints about privacy after views showed men leaving strip clubs, protesters at an abortion clinic, sunbathers in bikinis, gay men cruising, parents hitting their children, and kerb crawlers.

Some images were removed including those surrounding Downing Street. Last April villagers in Broughton in Buckinghamshire formed a human barrier to stop a Google car from photographing the village.
