ESPN ups sticks to Canal Digital family

Increased numbers of Canal Digital subscribers will be able to enjoy coverage of the NHL after the move of ESPN America to the satcaster’s Family pack.

ESPN America and its sister channel ESPN Classic, along with Motors TV, had been a part of the SEK 49 (€4.56) a month Sport package. The move will take place on September 15.

200 hockey matches from the NHL will be shown each season including coverage of the Stanley Cup finals.

Hockey, a popular sport in Sweden, has become an unlikely battleground. Rival platform Viasat runs a dedicated channel, Viasat Hockey, having secured the rights to the Ice Hockey World Cup, the Ryska hockeyligan KHL, and the Champions Hockey League.
