Sony Offers £150 For Old TVs

It's pretty reasonable to assume that most TV's purchased as a replacement for an older model. Which makes Sony's latest offer of "up to" £150 of a new Bravia TV if you trade in an older set pretty darned good should you be in the market.

The full £150 is only available on Bravia's over 46in. For 40in TV's the discount is a lesser £100, and 26in to 37in models will only be reduced by £50. Nonetheless, if you were planning to throw your old TV away, it's still money for nothing, no matter how much of a rebate Sony is offering.

Perhaps detracting from the offer's appeal, slightly, Sony requires that the old TV be taking into a store - where you'll quite unsurprisingly have some paperwork to fill in - to get the discount, which is a bit of a pain. Sony promises that traded-in TVs will be recycled, so you could think of it as being paid to not chuck your old set in a landfill site if you like.

Interestingly while the size of discount given depends on the size of TV purchased, the size of TV traded in is irrelevant. Which reminds me, I'm pretty sure I have a 15in CRT sitting about somewhere...

The promotion will finish on 18 October, so if you've got a decent amount of time to get involved.

Just saw the ad on telly. Participating chains are the high street usual suspects, like John Lewis, Comet, Curry's and Sony Centres.

It's easy to save 150 or more if you shop around the net for bargains. I saved several hundred on my Bravia shopping online compared to Curry's list price.

They would not be allowed to increase the price before a special deal, not in the UK anyway.

Stroke of genius to use Alice Cooper in the marketing though, but I'm not sure if he ever did throw a tv out of a hotel window.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

My System: Dreambox 7020Si receiver, PLi image loaded and Irdeto and Viaccess cards installed. Dishes for Nilesat + Hotbird with lnb's for BADR and Eurobird 9

Not a bad deal.
The prices of LCD Tv's have dropped so much.
I have just upgraded from 32" to 40" Samsung
and the best price I could get 2nd hand for the 32" was $250
and it was only 2 years old........

sure yes,2 years ago i payed for my dell 24" lcd for my pc around 650€,but it was not fully hd compatible and hdmi was missing, now 2 years later i payed for a new samsung tpye 2450 H,only 230€,first delivery modell has problems, the panel for the menu has no function now i got a replacement and everything works fine!
my coleauge working in tv store, and he told me,that many samsungs come back in warrenty!
the stealth,of the dvb c tuner,is not perfect, and now the have a lot of problems, when the signlal interrupts!

how about the pixel error free garantie, when a pixel is stop working, and i would only see a blue or a black pixel point on the screen,is this a real reason,to get a replacement inside the warrenty?

what brithness and contrast ,do you would set,is 100%,maybe not good for the lifetime of the lcd,and the eyes itself?
