PC World 'staff' label customers 'retards' on Facebook | | People claiming to be PC World and Currys staff have launched a torrent of abuse on Facebook about customers.
They were labelled 'retards', 'f**tards' and 't**ts' on a 3,000-strong group called DSGi employees.
The offensive comments were apparently posted by past and present employees under discussions boards named 'Arsehole customers!', 'Really Stupid Customers!' and 'Some customers are really really stupid…..'
Despite lambasting customers as 'iggnorant' many posted under their real names and the company has disciplined some staff.
The revelations follow action taken by British Airways against staff who complained about their customers' 'stupid American accents' on the social networking site.
Virgin was also embarrassed when employees labelled some fliers 'chavs'.
Staff who said they were employed by DSGi - which owns Currys, PC World and the TechGuys - said customers deserved a 'punch' and one asked if they should be allowed to 'cattle prod' customers, bitterwallet.com reported.
And one member of the group even appears to boast of a sexual relationship with a woman customer after he found her on MySpace using details from a sale.
Such behaviour risks breaching the Data Protection Act which strictly controls the use of personal information.
One post in response to a customer asking for a discount read: 'Short answer: No. Long answer: No and go f**k yourself you hardfisted, smallwalleted, annoying, iggnorant tightfisted f**ktard.'
A spokeswoman for DSGi said many comments were posted by former members of staff.
'People shouldn't be doing this if they are employed by the company but it's very difficult in today's internet world to control it,' she said.
'We do monitor things like this and we do take appropriate action.'
