France launches switchover campaign | | France’s digital switchover national campaign started on September 20 on both TV and in the press, and will be completed by regional ground campaigns. It aims at informing people still receiving analogue television about the impending final deadline for digital switchover, which is set for November 2011.
The switchover process will start as of next February, with one region each month scheduled to turn all-digital.
Public funds for the whole switchover programme includes free technical assistance at home for old or disabled people as well as financial susbidies given to low-income families to make the switch. The 5% of households living in non DTT-covered areas will also be helped financially to buy parabols for satellite dish reception.
The whole switchover campaign will cost €352m with €75m being paid by the six historical terrestrial networks. €20m will be spent in the publicity campaign, that will also be activated in 2010 and 2010.
