US entertainment concern Walt Disney launches its television channel Disney XD in Germany on October 9.
The 24-hour service, which replaces children’s channel Jetix, is available in Germany and Austria via cable and satellite as part of the bouquet
Sky Welt on
Sky’s pay-TV platform. In Switzerland the channel forms part of Teleclub’s subscription package.
Disney XD principally targets boys aged from eight to twelve with live action and cartoon series, films, comedies, sport and adventure series, including Aaron Stone, Zeke and Luther, Kid vs Kat and Jimmy Cool. With the new service,
Sky expands its TV offer for children which already comprises Disney Channel, Disney Cinemagic, Playhouse Disney, Junior, Nick Premium, Boomerang and Cartoon Network.
After the USA and France, Germany is the third country in which Disney XD has launched, with further countries expected to follow.
