SkyB has linked with most of the major music publishers to launch
Sky Songs, a music download service.
Sky Songs will officially launch on Oct 19. Music publishers participating include Warner Music, Universal Music, Sony Music and EMI plus many smaller labels.
Sky will have two subscription options: Unlimited streaming plus downloading of a £6.49 album or 10 tracks for £6.49 a month; or, £7.99 a month and good for a slightly more valuable album, or 15 tracks (plus unlimited streaming). Users will need a broadband connection.

Smaller independent labels and distributors on board include the Beggars Group (representing 4AD, Rough Trade, Matador and XL Recordings), PIAS Entertainment Group (representing over 100 leading independent labels), The Orchard, IODA and VidZone Digital Media.
