Ofcom sets out Olympic airways plan | | Ofcom, Britain's communications regulator, has set out its plans for how the airwaves will be managed during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
It will include borrowing spectrum on a short-term basis from public sector bodies such as the Ministry of Defence, encouraging more efficient use of civil spectrum and using spectrum freed up by the digital switchover.
Demand on the radio spectrum during the Games will be "unprecedented" and will have to cover everything from walkie-talkies used by event organisers to television cameras broadcasting to a global audience of five billion viewers, the watchdog said.
