BSkyB offers up 3D ads

BSkyB is planning to introduce a 3D-TV channel later in 2010, initially to pubs and bars, but then to homes. It is now talking to creative and advertising agencies about preparing 3D commercials for their clients.

BSkyB has indicated that the stand-alone 3D channel will comprise sport and movies as well as Sky-captured programming in 3D.

A Sky spokesman told UK trade mag Media Week: "Although it's still very early days, we anticipate there being a range of exciting new creative opportunities for advertisers. As we prepare to launch a commercial service next year, we've already had some initial discussions with advertisers about the potential for 3D TV, and their enthusiasm for innovating is clear."
