Black screen for 500,000 French homes?

Alain Méar, a member of regulatory body CSA has confirmed French Deputies’ fears and estimated that 500,000 households living in “shadow zones” will be affected by a black screen at the time of digital switchover in November 2011.

Though broadcast operator TDF was forecasting such as situation could touch 1.3 million households, Alain Méar, who was interviewed by Deputies on Wednesday, added that the 500,000 figure could be decreased to 150,000 if the power of transmitters is strengthened.
