Italy to hold one-day mobile phone 'strike'

The Italian federation of consumers' associations, the Intesaconsumatori, is to hold the first ever national "mobile phone strike" this week, against what they call the 'excessive pricing of Italian phone companies.'
The federation is encouraging its members and members of the public to refuse to use mobile services for the whole of Thursday, 15 July. The group has a list of complaints, including: "useless reply charges; useless services; the increases in SMS prices; fraudulent promotions; and head-spinning prices for landline charges, logos and ring-tones."

The group is also complaining about the lack of transparency in international roaming and problems with number portability, claiming that operators are keeping the residual credit of customers who change companies.
