Regulator warns UK is unlikely to meet digital TV deadline

According to Stephen Carter, chief executive of OFCOM, Britain is unlikely to be ready for the planned switchover from analogue to digital television in 2010. Rather, he says that 2012 is a more realistic date for 95% of homes to be receiving digital, the government’s trigger level for the switchover.

"If you want to turn the analogue signal off in 2010, you have to start making the transmitter deployment and regional deployment decisions in 2006, which means that you have to have done all the planning in 2005 - that’s next year."

LOL, they don't know how to play the game do they, if you tell punters that it is likely to be 2010, they won't expect it until 2012 and will drag their feet. What they ought to be doing is telling the public that it'll be 2008.
