Inmedia nets Setanta hat-trick

Satellite broadcast services provider Inmedia has been chosen by sports broadcaster Setanta to provide the satellite transmission of its three new Scottish Premier League (SPL) football channels. Inmedia will provide satellite uplinking on its Eurobird transponder to deliver the channels to sky digital viewers in the UK.

Setanta Sport has signed an exclusive four-year contract with the Scottish Premier League (SPL) to broadcast 38 live Bank of Scotland Scottish Premier League football games each season on its new Setanta Sports channel. The rights had previously been held by the BBC.

A re-run of the featured live game will be screened that evening to cater for fans attending the game. In addition, two club specific channels, Celtic TV and Rangers TV, will be devoted to delivering Scottish football feature programming designed with the dedicated fan in mind and will both broadcast every weekday evening.

Inmedia's Sales Director for Broadcast Services, Matthew Ivey, noted that sports, and particularly football, had always been "very important for TV viewers and we have been involved in the delivery of live coverage of many major sporting and football events around the world."
