Australia is set to hit the one million digital television household landmark in the next few weeks. According to an analysis by The Australian newspaper, free-to-air digital operators claim 409,000 households, up from just 75,000 a year ago, with sales running at 30,000 per month, boosted by the appeal of digital Olympics coverage. Pay-TV operators Foxtel and Austar are put at a combined 500,000 subscribers. The 1m landmark would mean 14% of Australia's 7.1m homes had gone digital. Foxtel plans to introduce personal video recorders (PVRs) next year, a move that's expected to push digital take-up further. | ||
