Channel 4's submission to Ofcom this week in the watchdog's review of public service broadcasting reportedly asks for "direct access" to a cut of the BBC's licence fee. Chief executive Andy Duncan is said to demand regulatory support, such as receiving extra digital terrestrial spectrum to use or trade, more collaboration with the BBC, and direct or indirect public funding, Broadcast reported.

fifty bob a week after tax to subsidise one small group of channels to the detriment of the rest does not just offend the rules of competition, it props up one organisation at the expense of the others and removes choice from those who would like to chose. Duckend
