UK: “No HD on DTT”

The UK’s television regulator has said there will be no HDTV broadcasts on digital terrestrial network television before 2013 at the earliest.

Andrew Sterling, Ofcom’s strategy development manager, speaking at a Sony-organised HDTV event in London on Dec 2, said satellite (and cable) could move much faster and he praised BSkyB’s satellite initiative, but “until the analogue to digital switch-over has happened, there’s too little space to offer HD services.
