Watch your TV from anywhere in the World

A device that allows you to watch your television content from anywhere in the world is coming to the UK.

Sling Media's Slingbox `personal Broadcaster connects to a TiVo, satellite receiver or cable box and transfers the content to any room in the house, or even another country, provided you have a broadband connection.

They claim it can be viewed on a web-connected laptop, PC, PDA or mobile phone.

Priced similar to the US version $249 expected second half of 2005.

Well, I hope it isn't anything like the nefarious program I downloaded from our friends at S0ftbest.net.

All the channels were already FTA - all the stuff I wanted, BBC/ITV never got further than a dead screen. Which makes sense - they would never be given rights' clearance.

Now I know.

And what for the country blocking on DSL? If this TiVo thing can work anywhere - why can't I hack into CHA4 repeats of Lost (not that I would want to).

No, only one person at a time - officially.

Alternative now out - Placeshifter - a lot cheaper

For anyone with a TiVO

With an eye on keeping us all addicted to our favorite shows, TiVo has released a software upgrade that automatically converts recorded shows for use on a variety of handheld devices.

Desktop 2.3 runs on Windows XP/2000 and converts shows recorded on a TiVo box into MPEG-4 video, which can then be transferred to a portable video player. That way, if you absolutely must watch that crucial episode of "Lost" or "24" while you're out and about, or just not right in front of your TV, this lets you catch the previously recorded episodes on your PSP, iPod, Palm Treo, Nokia N80 or Toshiba Gigabeat.

The software, which costs $24.95, can be downloaded from TiVo's Web site.

what's new ?
You can allready watch your tv anywhere in the world if you have a broadband connection and a dreambox. just log in using the web-interface of your dreambox and use web-x-tv to watch the data stream.
I use this frequently at home using my laptop and wifi connection.
