RTL, the German private television station won a bidding war to broadcast Formula One racing until 2007, the company revealed. RTL acquired the rights from Bernie Ecclestone's Formula One Administration for an amount both parties declined to disclose. Sources close to the deal estimated the contract would cost RTL at least EUR 50 million a year to broadcast the second most popular sport in Germany, the biggest economy of the eurozone. /pz | ||
