Van driver 'killed Pcs after chase'

A jilted lover led police on a car chase across two counties before deliberately ramming and killing two police officers, a court heard.

Leayon Davi Dudley, 39, had rowed with his ex-girlfriend after a party when he jumped into a Transit van and sped off.

He failed to stop as a procession of police cars followed him and a long pursuit finally ended when he smashed into the car, sending it into a fireball and killing two officers, a jury at Stafford Crown Court was told.

Pc Andrew Munn, 37, took the full impact of the van and was killed instantly.

His Leicestershire Police colleague, Bryan Moore, 39, suffered massive injuries as the car hurtled across the carriageway and died several hours later in hospital,

Dudley, of Oakhurst Road, Acocks Green, Birmingham, pleaded not guilty to the murder of the two officers at an earlier hearing.
