Mr Brunstrom says the new devices are needed to help control Britain's "lawless" roads and motorways."Its all about bringing road policing into core police work," he says.By law, speed cameras have to be clearly visible but the new plans could go against government guidelines. Road safety groups have criticised the plan as a secret money-making scheme. A spokesman for the AA said the public would see the Catseyes cameras as a "devious" ploy to raise money and the RAC complained Mr Brunstrom was using "Big Brother tactics" to police UK traffic. Malaysia already uses similar technology where the cameras can instantly check if your car is taxed and insured.

Blog Entries: 3 My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum. | Would be really nice if they could focus a little more on the incredibly bad and aggressive driving habits we have at the moment, little catseye cameras are not going to catch people driving the wrong side of mini roundabouts, overtaking in dangerous locations, jumping traffic lights or any of the other dangerous offences committed daily.

| Whan will the police start doing their job by catching muggers, thiefs, vandals etc instead of spending valuable time only to earn revenue by picking on motorists who break the speed limit a bit? ok if it is someone going like a nutter, but the speed limit is total bullshit as it was set when cars had no abs, primative tyres and basically no brakes. | ||
