Iran gets first satellite, more to follow

Iran’s first ever satellite will be launched from Plesetsk, Russia this week, with another to follow before the end of the year. The Sina satellite will be launched alongside devices from Russia, China and the UK on Thursday, and will be used primarily for communications and the monitoring of natural disasters, according to AFP. Another Iranian satellite, known as Mesbah (meaning Lantern), is due to be launched before the end of the year, with a third expected to follow in 2006.

I don't know how to put this, but, aren't monitoring satellites as good as having a proverbial set of eyes in the back of your head; whatever their official use is destined to be.

Natural disasters Let's be honest, American or Iranian?

Have fun,

Mark.

More like monitoring their underground nuclear tests that will soon take place despite them claiming they do not have nuclear capability

Of course they have them. But its like owning a gun in the USA, the logic being, if they have one I want one also.

Yes the tachtonic plates are very unstable in this region as I have found out a couple of times on my travels, once on the Red Sea region and once in Turkey. Not a pleasant experience at all.

Is it any more stable in the States: what with Bush, Gates and the weather?

Aparently there's been so much meteorological (thanks to dictionary.com for that one ) nonsense this year that they have run out of names to call hurricanes and have now recoursed to calling them by Barbie collections.

As I write there is a cat #2 storm called 'Barbie Prom Night' just about 300 miles from Gerbekistan.

Mark.
