Mitsubishi Electric Corp said Tuesday it received a communications satellite order from Tokyo-based Space Communications Corp, a deal making Mitsubishi the first Japanese company to get an order for a commercial satellite to be run by a Japanese firm. Japan's commercial satellite market has been dominated by U.S. satellite manufacturers such as Boeing Satellite Systems International Inc. Space Communications, the satellite service firm in the Mitsubishi group, ordered Superbird 7, which is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2008, according to Mitsubishi Electric.
