9:03 PM, 30 Mar 2006 Print this story

A satellite position problem has taken Sky television off the air tonight throughout New Zealand and Australia.

A spokesperson for Sky says the Optus B satellite which sits above New Zealand and Australia has suffered an outage after a routine repositioning manouevre.

He says Optus has advised it will take approximately three hours to fix the problem.

Sky channels have been off the air since about 7pm Thursday night.

Sky TV says it apologises to its viewers, and is posting updates on the outage on the its website www.skytv.co.nz.

@ skyoutUK, like the previous AM11 story, something like:

.... due to a sudden immense external impact, an instantaneous depressurization happened, followed by a sudden outburst of the heat-carrying agent. This resulted in in a loss of 2D's orientation and rotation .. and will be parked in a graveyard slot until it is removed by aliens
would be just the sweetest end to an otherwise nasty piece of tele-junk - i'll hazzard guess that's what you meant too

Mark.

Have Fun, Moo.
