With Britons making 340 million visits to hairdressers each year, the BBC has identified an untapped "captive audience". A unique deal will see customers provided with interactive screens perched next to the stylist’s mirror, reports The Times.

Customers will be able to choose from a menu of BBC programmes by pressing the 6in x 4in aircraft-style screen.

The deal, between BBC Library Sales and the digital media company i-vu, is the first stage in an ambitious plan which could see touch-screen booths offering BBC programmes in high-street stores.
