Hispasat lobbies for a Digital +'s contract | | Spanish satellite company Hispasat is lobbying to be Digital +'s sole satellite service provider in the near future. The digital DTH platform, launched last July 21, is currently broadcasting through two satellites, Astra and Hispasat.
In a letter sent to the Media, the CEO of the company, Jacinto Palacios, claims that Hispasat "would be the most suitable satellite and the most natural option for the new digital TV platform". He says that Hispasat "has the best satellite coverage over the national territory (Spain)" ….."it is the most technically qualified company to give that service (distribution platform) under the best quality conditions and at the best price".
Palacios also argues that Hispasat would be the best satellite with view to entering the American continent where the satellite is already reaching 15 million homes.
The letter comes at a time when rumours are circulating about Sogecable's decision to choose Astra. Hispasat hopes for the Spanish Government to intervene and lobby Sogecable to finally choose the Spanish satellite. |
