BSkyB soccer leaves cable in cold

BSkyB, the UK-based pay TV provider, has risked the wrath of soccer fans by showing Champions League matches only on channels available to subscribers to its sky digital satellite platform, leaving cable viewers unable to watch. BSkyB will make just two of the games it has rights to on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, including those involving UK teams Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Celtic and Rangers, available to cable viewers of its premium sports channels. Telewest and NTL subs can receive Sky Sports 2, which will show one game on each night, but not Sky Sports Extra, which is the focal point of BSkyB's interactive Champions League coverage, allowing viewers a choice of the remaining games on each night. BSkyB said technology issues prevented Sky Sports Extra being made available to cable subs.

My System: Sky HD, TM6800HD, Manhattan Plaza ST550 and TM1500 CI+. 1.0m dish and 36v motor, Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and Panasonic video/DVD recorder. Sony G800 HD TV stand/surround system + Sony KDL40W2000. Infinity USB, Elvis, CAS1, CAS2.

Because of the multi-streaming of CL games on S S Extra, for which I must congratulate Sky 's achievemnet, I think they are right. This kind of streaming would not be possible on cable.
