UK license fee threatened

The election manifesto of the UK's Conservative parliamentary opposition will include a plan to cut the BBC's license fee by 50%. Shadow culture secretary John Whittingdale said under Conservative plans, the BBC's output would be limited to public service programming, negating the need to chase ratings with soap opera's and game shows. "I don't believe that the BBC should be receiving £2.7b ($4.4b) for eight TV channels and 12 radio stations," said Whittingdale.
