3 October 2003 at the sixth HOT BIRD TV AWARDS ceremony in the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista in Venice, the jury choices of the best thematic channels transmitted over the Eutelsat satellites were at last announced. Italian, French, Spanish and Polish (Minimax from Cyfra+) channels awarded.

HOT BIRD TV AWARDS are organised by Eutelsat, one of the world leading satellite operators, and by Eurovisioni, European organiser of audiovisual events, and once again rewarded the channels that have displayed the most originality and quality in the programming they transmit. Sponsored by Alcatel Space, Arianespace and Astrium, the HOT BIRD TV Awards is an annual event to recognise the excellence of satellite broadcasting of thematic television.

The winners were selected by a jury of European television journalists, who met last month in Rome, to view 120 thematic channels broadcasting in 13 languages separated into eight categories: Cinema & Fiction, Culture, Documentaries, Kids, Music, News, Sport and Various.
