Golf TV tees off with Kingston

Kingston inmedia has added a new channel to its playout services, Golf TV. Golf TV has signed up for Kingston's fully managed playout, Eurobird uplink and space segment services. A full launch is expected towards the end of the month.

Golf TV is the UK's first dedicated golf channel and will feature interviews and advice from some of the world's leading golf professionals, information on the latest equipment, products and techniques and a golf clinic. There are also plans to secure rights to some of the world's most prestigious tournaments as well as developing Golf TV's own golf competitions.

"Golf is a huge sport in the UK and Europe, with over 6,000 courses and 6 million golfers in Europe who are crying out for their own dedicated TV channel," said Golf TV Founder Andrew Malcher. "It wasn't a difficult decision to make Kingston our broadcast enabler. In addition to getting us on air at the right time, Kingston provides a high level of service and backup and has interactive systems in place to satisfy our future requirements. It's natural that we'll turn to them when we're ready to use enhanced features to add a new dimension to Golf TV," he added.

Kingston inmedia has become the preferred playout centre for many UK content owners and new channel launches. In two years, the company has attracted 28 channels and launched services such as Customer Controlled Playout and Participation TV, making it possible for content owners to launch TV channels without a team of engineers.
