It'll be this fall before Marine Corporal Terrence Lambert will be able to hold his new daughter. But a satellite linkup with the serviceman's base near the Syrian border in Iraq allowed him to witness her birth on this Father's Day. Lambert was watching from a room at Alisade Air Base, while his wife, Jodilynn, gave birth at a hospital in Jacksonville, Alabama. Jodilynn also could see her husband on a large TV screen as they chatted and waited until Katherine Annalee Lambert arrived. It took a month to set up the videoconference, using a satellite hookup paid for by a group that keeps soldiers in touch with home. The new dad says it usually takes a couple months to get a letter. This, he said, was a big improvement. Source: AP | ||
