BSkyB Introduces Remote Record Mobile DVR Feature

BSkyB is adding a new level of convenience to its satellite television offering, by allowing users to record shows remotely, using a mobile phone.

Sky+ customers who have a Sky box DVR device will be able to record programming remotely by texting instructions to a special phone number. Those possessing a GPRS or 3G mobile phone will also be able to view a seven-day program guide on their handsets, allowing them to create an entertainment plan days in advance.

“Remote Record is perfect for those situations when you hear about a TV show and want to record it there and then, or if you want to catch a particular programme and you’re stuck at work, waiting for a delayed train or even on holiday,” said BSkyB’s director of customer products and services, Brian Sullivan.

Its a sweet idea in principle Practice: probably GBP 1.50 after trolling though the EPG of a cell phone, LOL.

I could hire a DVD for less, in the end.

Have Fun, Moo.

oh found this too,

to be able to use this feature, you must....
subscribe to a package which includes Sky Sports 1 & 2 and/or Sky Movies 1 & 2.

its also a real bind to register!!
you have to first register into Skys customer zone.... then you have to register again as a sky remote customer.
as if thats not bad enough, the bloody website doesnt work properly!!
i cant even get to register the first bit lol

clicking register, takes you to this page
https://czone.sky.com/CustZone/startRegistration.do
that doesnt work here??

that might put a few people off lol, good old sky, theres always a catch

you can register by pressing the interactive button on your remote... and it dials out... probably costing a few quid

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

I sampled the movies online and decided against it after it turned my PC into to a P2P server, still can't get rid of the Khost it installed, but my active shield stops it from loading.

I can't see that I'd have a lot of use for this tool, but may give it a try anyway.

Haven't looked into this service really - but P2P So SKY 'seed' a film onto the net (sweet irony for the MPA) - you pay loads (package conditions) - and your PC and hundreds of other PC's do all the work. Sweet.

rolf - I was finding traces of an old warez P2P program on my PC some six months after I deleted it, LOL. A reg cleanup helped. Also found it hiding in the Windows Firewall Properties - might be an idea to check.

Have Fun, Moo.

Not too bothered, as it is prevented from loading, but I found that when I had the full Sky program installed, it slowed down the PC and my connection, really only tried it to see what it was like.

I've been trying to log onto the new service and cannot get the site to work, looks like they may struggle, their site designers seem to favour features over functionality, I'd sack the lot of them.

Another day another failure, tried again to log in with my username, but couldn't get in, tried changing my password, but couldn't get in. Pretty much given up now, it falls under the "am I really bothered in doing this" catagory.
