Premiere to produce more sports

German digital pay-TV Premiere wants to develop more TV sports production on its own, from the beginning of next year. That plans are targeted at strenghtening company's position in the production of sports transmissions field.

Premiere is planning to produce Champion League football programmes and ice hockey from the next season. It will do it through its own subsidiary Digital Playout Center. German pay-TV is not due to resume contract with Munich-based production company Plazamedia, owned by EM.TV.

That's not all the news about production from Premiere. Company is planning to apply to produce Federal League football match broadcasts. That could generate additional profit to the pay-TV. Currently transmissions are done by Plazamedia. Contract between DFL league and Plazamedia expires in June 2004.
