23E to become German and Dutch hotspot.

According to a report over on the Transponder News forum, 23E is to be developed as a new German / Dutch hotspot. Interestingly, Sirius 2 will be moved away from 5E and will be relocated at 23E to strengthen the slot.

heres the google translated post:

> SIRIUS 2 is shifted on 23,5 degrees of east
(sh) the satellite SIRIUS 2 is to be shifted by 5 degrees of east on the orbit position 23.5 degrees of east.
It belongs to the Scandinavian enterprise NSAB, in which SES ASTRA is by the majority involved. SIRIUS 2 is to strengthen the two satellites ASTRA 1D and ASTRA 3A under new name and to make additional capacities available.
On its past position 5 degrees of east is to be stationed beside SIRIUS 3 starting from center 2007 SIRIUS 4.
SES ASTRA had announced to develop the orbit position 23.5 degrees of east in the next months for German and Netherlands satellite direct receivers. Beside additional Angeoten also smaller program offerers are to receive the possibility of offering their programs over satellite.

My System: andrews dish - jaeger 1224 motor, vantage x221tsci, skystar 2, diablo v2.3, cyfra+

so does that mean we would lose channels that are on 19east as 23east is hard to get in the uk

Possibly. You know as much about it as i do now. However, 1D is wide footprint, and the future Sirius 2 transmissions from 23E should be easy enough to get - especially the widebeam stuff..

So we have the following hotspots

28E - UK & Ireland
10E - Italy
23E - Germany
(5E - Nordic)
(42E - Turkey)

anything else likely to develop?

If they use the same type of beam as astra 3a that means a 1.8m to receive it in south wales,

Sirius 2 has also so called "Nordic beam" which can be difficult to receive outside target area (Germany, Netherlands) .. http://www.ses-sirius.com/services/coverage-areas/

so what will happen to 19.2east then i doubt the channels are going to move of there

why cant they leave it like it is now with different nationalitys on 1 widebeam sat position

least eutelsat are doing anything like this

as it will be boring just having to watch channels off 28e as it s full of crap, if theres going to be lots of hotspots for different countries

Much of this hot spotting is to give additional capacity with dual head lnb's.

Italians - 10/13E
Germans - 19/23E

Thweoretically the UK could use 28/33E, although Sky's crippled box wont do lnb switching of corse

I would modify that to

7W & 8W plus 26E - for the Arab countries
4W - Amos (for Israel)

at Analog
we get 8W Arabic channels with mini dishes pointed at 7W (but not mine)
think Arabic channels on 8W is not going to be there for a long time
some channels rents tpz on that bird for lack of capacity on Nilesat , that might be fixed over the next 2 years
Orbit might stay there though , for wider beam to European countries , even if its on Nilesat now !

thanks mate
