The Premier League closed the window on bids for overseas television football rights yesterday, with a 40 per cent rise in revenues expected by some market watchers as international interest in UK football rockets, according to a report on the FT. The international television rights, negotiated on a three-year basis, raised E250 million last time round through a consortium comprising Canal Plus, the French cable network, News Corp, the global media group and Octagon CSI, the sports agency. The new contracts should be finalised in the spring and will begin this summer. | ||
